If You Had $3,950,000…

You’ve undoubtedly caught a glimpse of the home at 1 Pondmark in Chilmark during a leisurely drive up-Island. Perched on a hill above Middle Road’s Keith Farm, the 4.7-acre property boasts killer ocean, pond, and pastoral views. It also has a famous neighbor: the historic home known as “Middle Mark,” once the only town office in Chilmark.

The 1955, 1,316-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bath home remained in the same family for decades – until last August, when it was put on the market. After 462 days, it sold for $3,950,000 – $450,000 less than asking. That works out to roughly $3,000 per square foot, though the property can support an expanded main house, guest house, and swimming pool. As for those views? They’re priceless. Or, you know, $4 million.
